Before you start troubleshooting, here are some key requirements for the Quick Share feature to function properly. Firstly, Quick Share only works on Samsung Galaxy phones running on Android 10 or above (or Samsung One UI 2.1 or above). So, ensure that both the sending and receiving devices are compatible. Secondly, you can’t use Quick Share if you have enabled Mobile Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, or Smart View. So, make certain that all these features are turned off on your phone. Furthermore, Quick Share does not support multi-sharing. In other words, if you’re already using Quick Share to share files with one device, you won’t be able to initiate another transfer simultaneously. If you continue to have problems with Quick Share despite meeting the above requirements, you may be dealing with a different issue. In that case, you can use the following troubleshooting tips to fix the underlying issue.

1. Check Quick Share Visibility Settings

When you initiate a file transfer using Quick Share, the feature is automatically enabled on your phone. However, if Quick Share is disabled on the receiving device, you won’t be able to find it. To enable Quick Share on your Samsung phone, use these steps.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your phone and navigate to Connected devices > Quick Share.
  2. Under Nearby sharing, tap on Who can share with you and choose Contacts only or Anyone nearby. When you select Contacts only, your phone will limit Quick Share’s visibility to Samsung account users in your contact list. To avoid complications, choose Anyone nearby. And that’s about it. Your phone is now ready to receive files via Quick Share.

2. Keep Your Phone’s Screen On

When receiving files via Quick Share, your phone may not appear as an available device if the screen is turned off. To avoid this, avoid locking your phone while receiving files via Quick Share. Further, you should keep both devices close to each other for better connectivity and faster speeds.

3. Disable Power Saver Mode

When you enable power saver mode, your phone may terminate some background processes in order to reduce power consumption. This can cause a Quick Share transfer to fail on your Samsung phone. To avoid this, you must disable the power saver mode on both devices by following the steps below. 

  1. In the Settings app navigate to Battery and device care > Battery.
  2. Scroll down and turn off the switch next to Power saving. 
  3. Next, tap on More battery settings and turn off the Adaptive battery option from the following menu. 

4. Keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Enabled

Since Quick Share relies on both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, you need to keep these two features enabled on both devices. If you accidentally disable either of them, your Quick Share file transfer will fail. 

5. Clear Quick Share Cache

As you continue to use Quick Share on your phone, it creates temporary files for future use. However, if the existing Quick Share cache on your phone becomes corrupt or goes missing, it can cause problems. You can try clearing the Quick Share cache on both devices to see if that helps. 

  1. Open the Settings app and go to Apps. Then, scroll down to tap on Quick Share.
  2. Go to Storage and tap the Clear cache option at the bottom.  Repeat the above steps to clear the cache for the Quick Share Connectivity as well.

6. Update Quick Share

If clearing the cache does not help, you can try updating Quick Share on your phone. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your Samsung phone and navigate to Connected devices > Quick Share.
  2. Scroll down to tap on About Quick Share and your phone will automatically start looking for updates. Once updated, Quick Share should start working on your Samsung phone.

7. Disable Antivirus Program on Your PC 

At times, third-party antivirus programs can also interfere with Quick Share and block transfers. So, if you’re having trouble transferring files via Quick Share to your Samsung laptop, try disabling your antivirus program. If this method works, you may have to modify the settings of your antivirus program to avoid issues in the future.
