How to Setup Streamlabs OBS Alert Box
The process of adding an alert box is as simple as it can get.
- First open the Streamlabs OBS app on your PC or Mac. Here click on the Plus + icon in the Sources tab.
- Then select the Alertbox option in the pop-up window and click on the Add Source button.
- This will add Alertbox to the source list. Once done, the box will appear on the display. Adjust the size according to your needs.
- You can double-click on the Alertbox in the source to adjust what kind of alerts users see. For example, if you only want to show alerts for donations, uncheck all other options. These options come in handy while streaming. But this process will only show default images and settings provided by Streamlabs. Using them can be too generic and even boring. You need to customize them to make them feel unique and personal to your channel.
How to Customize Streamlabs OBS Alerts
To customize Streamlabs OBS alerts, you will need to open Streamlabs website.
- Open the Streamlabs website on your browser and log in. The log-in process is pretty important. If you log in with Youtube, you can customize alerts for donations, super chat, etc. When you log in with Twitch, you can customize alerts for bits, raids, etc. The same goes for other platforms too. So log in with a service that you use for streaming primarily. Once logged in, you can connect multiple accounts and customize alerts for all platforms individually.
- Click on the Alert Box option in the sidebar.
- Now you can open each tab like Donations, Subscriptions, Merch, Super Chat, Bits, etc. to customize them.
- Under each tab, you can customize everything related to the alert from the Image, Layout, Animation style, Alert duration, Alert delay, Font, Sound effects, etc. You can also set the minimum amount for the alert to pop up so that the alerts won’t spam for all the small donations.
- For super chat alerts on YouTube or bits alerts on Twitch, you can also set up Text to speak alerts so that it reads the comment instead of just alerting with a sound.
- Want to know how your alerts will look on the stream? Open Streamlabs and add Alertbox as a source. Now on the website, click on different ‘test alerts’ buttons to see how your alerts will be visible to your viewers. For example, when I click on the Test Super Chat button, the display on the app shows how the super chat alert is going to be visible. As of now, you have only customized the alerts for one platform that you used to log in. Here I used YouTube to log in, so I am able to customize the alerts for a super chat. To customize alerts for different platforms, you need to connect that platform to Streamlabs.
