Delete WhatsApp Messages Automatically
You can enable the “Disappearing Messages” option for the specific chat you want to delete and WhatsApp will only delete those chats. Remember that, this will also delete messages from the other party’s phone. Anyhow if they have forwarded or enabled auto-download for photos and videos, those files won’t be automatically deleted from your device, just from the chat. Also, this feature doesn’t work on group chats as of now. To enable the Disappearing Messages feature, open WhatsApp, and then select the specific chat that you want to delete the chat history.
Now click on the three-dot menu and click on “View Contact” to open their profile. Alternatively, you can also tap on their name to open their profile.
Scroll down and you can find an option called “Disappearing Messages”. Click on it.
Now click on “Continue” in the popup that appeared. Here change the toggle from “Off” to “On” and that’s it. Your messages will be deleted automatically after 7 days. Anyhow, you don’t have the option to customize the days and time.
Wrapping Up
This feature will delete messages and media from that specific chat only from the day you have enabled it. So your old messages will not be deleted automatically. Anyhow, deleting old messages is simple. On the homepage of WhatsApp. Long-press on the contact that you want to delete the previous messages. Now click on the delete button at the top right corner and click on “Ok”. That’s it, your previous messages will be deleted and your future messages will automatically get deleted after 7 days.
